The Development Academy of the Philippines Project Smarter Philippines through Data Analytics, R&D, Training, and Adoption (SPARTA) was featured in the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Region IV-A CALABARZON Extension Office’s “12th Usapang Bayanihan eCoop Forum” on December 13, 2021.SPARTA Deputy Project Manager Nikko Visperas and Coursebank Instructional
Design Lead Jaclyn Sangalang presented to the cooperatives under the CDA-CALABARZON, the benefits and gains of being a Project SPARTA scholar,and discussed the application process.
DAP Vice President and SPARTA Project Lead, Dr. Alan Cajes, emphasized the relevance of DSA in its application to the operations of the cooperatives in his message. “Iyong Data Science at Data Analytics ay magiging mas relevant din kapag mapapakinabangan ng ating mga kasama sa cooperatives. Kaya sana ma-encourage kayong lahat sa pag-participate sa ating SPARTA courses,” he said.
CDA Regional Director Pedro Defensor also encouraged the attendees to grab the scholarship opportunity being offered by Project SPARTA.
Meanwhile, the open forum gave the cooperatives the chance to clarify and share their insights.
CDA Assistant Regional Director Bernadette Hornilla in her closing remarks urged the cooperatives to avail of the SPARTA grant. “Noon kung tayo po ay [manual] sa pagi-encode [at] sa pagi-input ng ating mga data [at] information... i-upgrade po natin iyon. So, paano iyon? Ito po iyong sagot— Data Science and Analytics,” she said.
The DAP Project SPARTA and CDA-CALABARZON signed a Memorandum of Understanding through a virtual ceremony on August 26, 2021.
