Project Smarter Philippines through Data Analytics, Research and Development, Training, and Adoption (SPARTA) signed a partnership agreement with STMicroelectronics, Inc. (STMI) to train 300 scholars from the organization in data science and analytics (DSA). As a company that looks to utilize data and technology to solve environmental and social challenges, the STMI intends to further expand the analytics ecosystem in the country.
The SPARTA project team also conducted an online roadshow for STMI’s employees and staff on 15 August 2022 to orient them about the program and its pathways.
SPARTA Project Manager Joanne Liezl Nuque expressed the team’s eagerness to help the STMI “upskill and reskill employees and staff to attain our joint goals of forwarding analytics and technology for a sustainable and data-driven country.”
“The knowledge that STMI’s employees will gain from SPARTA’s courses will be very valuable in providing support to their workmates as well as to the processes in their company,” Nuque added.
Meanwhile, Francis Baldemor, senior manager of STMI’s Central Test Engineering and Development, vowed to encourage their employees to take the free online courses as these are additional opportunities to learn outside the company. He said that the courses will help them “achieve more in terms of automation and future insights.”
Moreover, Dr. Richelle Ann Juayong, SPARTA subject matter expert, discussed the importance of DSA while Jaclyn Sangalang, Coursebank’s instructional design lead, briefed them on the application process.
