Project SPARTA joined the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (DOST-PCIEERD) in an online capability development workshop on Data and Science and Analytics (DSA) for the officials and faculty members of the Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) on February 18, 2022 via the Zoom platform.
“We really need researchers, scientists, and engineers like all of you ... you work on projects and initiatives aimed towards the development of our community and towards betterment of the lives of our people. You find ways to solve pressing problems in our communities and you also aid leaders in choosing the best decisions for their people,” said Ruby Raterta, Chief of the PCIEERD’s Human Resource and Institutional Development Division (HRIDD) as she highlighted the importance of researchers and DSA practitioners in her opening message. She also presented PCIEERD’s different programs on research and development capabilities.
Moreover, Engr. Lynnel Olpot, PCIERRD Program Coordinator, presented the Good Governance through Data Science and Decision Support System (GODDESS) Program and PCIEERD’s 19 sectoral priorities and six roadmaps. On the other hand, Nikko Visperas, SPARTA Deputy Project Manager, encouraged the attendees to avail of the scholarship opportunity offered by Project SPARTA. He said that it is aligned with the PhilSCA’s goal of achieving total student welfare and development anchored on human, physical, and technological resources.
Meanwhile, PhilSCA Research Analyst, Dr. Mendel Rosario, presented their organization’s R&D Agenda and explained how the aviation industry can benefit from DSA.
The workshop ended with a short discussion of PCIEERD’s collaboration with PhilSCA through the GODDESS program.
