Data is the “new oil”, yet, it is also a pollutant. This can be used to empower communities and should be given importance as data-driven solutions are critical to achieving development. As an arm of the state, LGUs encounter data every day, and this voluminous entry need strong support to uphold management and derive actionable insights to fast-track changes and establish a cost-efficient service to its clientele.
In the Philippines, Data Management remains challenging especially in the public sector in terms of employing digital infrastructures or even personnel with the appropriate competencies to accommodate data workflows. While other organizations’ way of generating reports and data-driven solutions, other remains challenged causing delays in other services.
That is why, the City of Cauayan with DOST and DAP initiates Open Data Challenge to convene data analytics experts, locals, researchers, and other interested bodies to take part in the challenge of developing clean and relable datasets that would be housed in a central repository hub as a source of all data for the LGU.
