The agriculture sector is considered to be the backbone of the country’s economy. It might not be the only source of sustenance, but it is still essential to the economic growth of our country.  As the sector continuously strives to meet the demands of the world, there are alarming factors challenging its productivity, especially its ability to uphold standards in the food sufficiency level of various food commodities. 

Therefore, in order to sustain food sufficiency, Butuan City plans to leverage data science and analytics by putting up a central information hub. With this, participants from hackathons and open data challenges can contribute to developing data-driven policies meant to solve the city’s problems on food sufficiency by harnessing valuable insights from the city’s datasets.
